Family Dentistry

Park Ridge Dentist

At Davis & Engert Dentistry, we have been treating families since 1983. We provide dental services for children and adults of all ages to ensure that their mouth and smile stay as healthy as possible.

Your oral health is related to your overall health and by maintaining a healthy smile, you will also be contributing to your overall health. Recent studies suggest that there is a connection between gum disease and other health problems such as heart disease, diabetes and stroke. As with any disease, early detection of periodontal disease, decay and oral cancer is a key to successful treatment. Regular visits to our practice will contribute to your overall health and wellness.

During your initial exam, you will have the opportunity to discuss your dental goals with the dentist.  He or she will provide you with a thorough and gentle exam, including an oral cancer screening.  Once the exam is completed, you will be provided with recommendations for treatment to attain your goals, as well as treat any periodontal disease or decay.

Below are some of the general dentistry services we offer for you and your family.

Dental sealants are thin, clear coatings that are applied to the surface of a tooth to help protect it from decay. A dental sealant is placed on certain surfaces of a tooth to prevent germs and debris from getting trapped in grooves of the tooth. The application of dental sealants is a very short and simple process. When paired with proper professional and at-home dental care, sealants can be a very effective way to prevent decay.  Sealants are very discrete and are usually undetectable. Dental sealants are ideal for children or adults that have teeth without fillings or decay.

Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride treatments are used to prevent tooth decay and cavities by strengthening and protecting the teeth for children and adults. Fluoride is proven to strengthen enamel and discourage the growth of decay causing bacteria. Fluoride also decreases general and localized sensitivity.

After your professional cleaning, our hygienist will be able to recommend whether fluoride treatment is right for you. Once fluoride is applied, we suggest not eating, drinking or smoking for at least 30 minutes.

Air Abration

We offer a service of filling select small cavities without using anesthetic or a drill. Our Air Abrasion Unit uses a small spray of powder to clean out decay before placing a filling.
